Calgary - cold & snow & ice

We all know God works in mysterious ways, well I ended up driving to Calgary in a rented car. (If you connected to me on Facebook you would know the chaos which surrounded me about leaving to come here). Anyway, as I know many of you who read this are not connected on Facebook, I will give you a quick breakdown. When in Vancouver I had a car accident which resulted in some minor damage (I thought) to my right headlight. I saw the autobody people when I returned home and advised I wanted the car ready to drive to Calgary. It got approved by the ICBC person who looked at it, and then we were waiting for parts. Then I took it to be 'winterized' for the journey, as I could see by the weather forecast Calgary was in for cold, snowy weather.
After it had the winterizing package down which included rotating the wheels, I went to Kelowna to see the wonderful massage therapist I have found there. Caycee is one of the best I have ever had and has done wonders with my back, right shoulder and other parts of my body. The car drove terribly there and back (only 1 hour north).
I went back to the garage and told them about the vibration as I would not be able to drive to Calgary with the vibration. They said I just probably needed the tires balanced.  OK says me, go ahead.  Well within 15 minutes 'the man' I don't know his name called me to come look.  The whole frame had been moved, so there was much more damage done than expected.  'The man" told me,"take it back to the autobody people, because this car will not make it to Calgary as is".
Now, before going further I want to make this point, up to where 'the man' looked at the car, three people had looked at the vehicle and not one of them had picked up this other problem .  It should have been picked up when I had the car winterized at least, or the ICBC Insurance guy should have noticed, but no one had.
So here I am midday Wednesday, with my plan of leaving for Calgary the next morning up in the air.  No problem, Steve and Paul of the autobody company, get on the phone, the ICBC man comes over declares my car undriveable, and because I have a 'road star' program (something I have bought for years and not ever used) I could get a rental while it is in the shop.
So Thursday morning, I'm picking up this Subaru with the all wheel drive, and everything else you want and at 9.45am I am on the road.  The trip was done slower than usual - 10 hours - but the roads were clear, I had a patch of blue sky leading the way, and when the moon came out it was a beautiful big, nearly full  moon which lit up the road wonderfully well. I was well looked after.
God working in mysterious ways. the truth is my car probably should not be driving here in snow and ice, and now I have this lovely little white car which handles well, is warm and has the bells and whistles. I may have to pay some extra monies, because the rental is only good until they fix up my car, but they are waiting for a part from Japan, so hopefully it will be a few days before it arrives.  Plus they found another problem with a tie rod which needs to be fixed not covered. So when I get back safe and sound from the journey, next Monday -- I will get everything straightened up and then have my car for around the local area.
Now, Calgary - 24 at night, up to -10 during the day. Went out in the car for a short while this afternoon, and all I could think of was get myself back to my friend Deanne's house. The major roads are fine, but the way onto the highways are terrible.  I had a couple of times I skidded when I applied the breaks, and was glad of the all wheel drive.  But my nervous system did not like it.
I will be driving to and from here where I am staying, to the Hotel where the workshop is taking place this next week, as my course begins tomorrow morning. I'll be doing my usual praying while driving.
Eleanor is arriving here sometime this evening.  We are trusting the roads are like I had.Clear without snow.  I will know when she gets here. I'm waiting for her phone call to let me know how she is doing.
Now that I'm connected on my trusty computer online. I will be able to let you know how the Psychic Intuitive Development Intensive course goes.
Then next Sunday I will making my way home.
Lots of blessings to you all.
Norma
PS  I had hoped to go see several movies the two days I've had here, but with the weather being so cold and the roads being so awful, I haven't.

Visitors, Rockies & Calgary

Here I am in Calgary, Alberta. I saw Karen off to San Francisco for her course yesterday. She had a week with me, after the Tea Party (last post). To bring you uptodate.  I had taken Vida to Vancouver to stay with her friends. Then I went and stayed with my friend Sonia in Surrey for a few days, catching up with dear friends with a pot luck on the Sunday and then Monday having a massage by friend Beverley in Tsawwassen, which I always love and enjoy. Looked over their Natural Comfort's new digs - which are great (booked to do a channeling session there in October when I'm next back in Vancouver). After the massage I went and did some appointments and then 'highlight of the day' a swim in the pool, finishing up with a hot tub before heading back to Surrey and Sonia. What a day!  Fun for me. Hot yes, but my car has air conditioning.
Tuesday am I was up super early - 5am - to go to the Vancouver airport to pick up Karen who had flown in from Hawaii, where she had spent three days (she had come from New Zealand.).  Put her to bed at Sonia's while I did some phone consultations and then when she woke up went down to White Rock and showed her where we had lived. Met up with friend Anne and had supper at Cosmos on the beach. Back to Sonia's and sleep.
Wednesday left Sonia's around 8.30am, with all bags packed. I did the scenic tour out to Horseshoe Bay, and back through Vancouver ending up having lunch with Bridget at Los Margaritas, one of my favourite Mexican food places when I'm in Vancouver before leaving to drive back to Penticton. Being with Karen is interesting. She not only had not been to Canada before, but she is studying perfumery, and has a heightened sense of smell. She loved the smell of our firs, cedars and almost anything else. So plants and trees were her fascination.
Arriving back in Penticton, I had my house full. My exBob and his fiancee plus son Rob, Melanie and family where all there.  Great to see them, but I had my wires crossed. I thought they were staying until Friday, so on Thursday I had early appointments booked in order to have the day free for them, but they all left by 10.30am....so my house was empty besides Karen. The good part was I got my bed back, and instead of being on the chesterfield and Karen on the air mattress, we were in beds.  We spent most of Thursday resting and me catching up on the computer.
Friday, clients early am, and then we left for Osoyoos. Friend Suzanne joined us for lunch at the Native (can't remember how to spell its name) Cultural Centre. Well, what a lunch, food like I've not experienced before. A two hour lunch with wonderful phenomenal (expensive) food. None of us regretted the prices at all, because it was super, duper wonderful.  Three courses all magnificent. Then we looked around town and then it was back home to Penticton.
Saturday, am the market as usual, then home with a small sleep and get ready for the barbecue that night. Some people showed up early and helped as Ted and Teresa arrived with their tents and with mine, we had the lawn covered, three tents (it was predicted some rain - which did not come) and so we had a food tent, and people sitting tents. Over 30 people showed up. It was a fun night and then the wind came up around 8pm and so very quickly everything went, tents were down and all was back to 'normal'.  When I went inside the few dishes had all been washed by some washing angel.
Sunday - rest and a huge thunderstorm to wake us up in the afternoon.
Monday, leaving for Golden. I had been looking for this part of the trip for Karen for ages. Had it all planned and wanted her to experience the Rockies. One of the views I like is when you approach Revelstoke and you look out the Rockies are there in the background, looming, inviting saying 'we are here'. Well because of the smoke (lots of fires in BC right now) you could not see through the smoke/haze/whatever it was. So the Rogers Pass was not super wonderful, but Golden appeared and we had some rain and the next morning the wind and rain had cleared most of the smoke and the mountains were visible.
Tuesday. We left Golden quite late, after shopping in the town and then we stopped along the way, in particular Lake Louise, where the glacier is almost gone, sad!!  Had lunch there, a great burger, which was so filling for me, I never got to my salad. Then onto Banff. I said to Karen, I will sit here and read my book, you go and look around. I thought 1 1/2 hours would be enough. Well when she did not come back, thought maybe she doesn't remember quite where the car is, so moved out onto the street, sat on a rock wall and read my book - no Karen. Another 3/4 hour later I saw her and she came up to me and then off again she went. So she had probably around 2 1/2 hours of looking and shopping in Banff, said she really liked the town and could live there (although maybe not when there was snow). Finally we arrived at Deanne's place in Calgary. She had kindly said we could stay.  I was glad to get here, get unloaded, watch some TV and off to bed.
Wednesday. Up and ready (Karen still sleeping) so I read my book -- doing a lot of reading the last few days -- finally Karen woke up, said she had not slept well, and she had her suitcase ready .... in the car ... off to the airport. Dropped her off then I went to the garage, where I bought my car back in May to have them service it. I ended up getting lost a couple of times, finally found it again and sat and finished my book, The Associate by John Grishom (enjoyable). I sat and waited quite a while as the mechanics came back from lunch, and gave my Jenny her oil change.  Then back to Deanne's via a hotel which I'm going to go see 1.30 today. I'm hoping to rent space there in November for my intensive.
Thursday. I have just completed an appointment. Everyone else who was making an appointment with me ended up cancelling or not confirming....so this afternoon I will be off to see the hotel and then tonight there is a pot luck barbecue for me to attend.  I may get some shopping done this afternoon. This is like a holiday. Tomorrow I'm off to visit Eleanor in Trail so the holiday continues for a few more days before I get home to stay (unless something else unforeseen comes along) until October when I go to Vancouver. Strangely, October does not seem that long away.
Anyways, trust your summer is going well. Lightening and thunder can be so fascinating to watch.
Lots of love
Norma.

Stuck in Calgary

Hi from wonderful Calgary, when I expected to be home. I drove here last Thursday for a Yuen Level 3 workshop. Stayed in a fairly new Sandman Inn where the workshop was taking place. Saw clients every day, everything was absolutely great until Sunday night. But I'm ahead of myself as usual. So lets go back to last week.
Thursday, I got up and said goodbye to Christobelle (who is recovering nicely from her knee replacement surgery) and Mike her husband who have been staying at my place. Went for my walk with Jeanne, went and had a new headlight installed in the car, then left driving north. I remembered this Mexican restaurant in Vernon, and found it, and had a wonderful Avocado and Shrimp Salad for lunch. I mention that because now that I'm the Isagenix Program, with one meal a day, those meals are very important. Then drove on to Salmon Arm, where I visited with Maggie at her Spirit Quest Store. I had to drop off some Tarot books, (Exploring the Patterns of the Tarot) plus firm up my visit there on the 22nd June. I'll be doing some readings and speaking that evening.
From Salmon Arm I drove straight through to Golden, where I had planned to spend the night, back to the motel where the hot tub usually waits for me, oh no, its under maintenance. So no hot tub for me. Up the next morning, make my shake and off to Calgary.
The Calgary Sandman Inn said they did not want you in before 4pm, the time my first clients were scheduled to come in. I was in Calgary mid day......so decided I will go to the movies, and I did. Had to wait a wee while, bought a protein shake for lunch (getting used to my program) and then went and saw ROBIN HOOD!!! I loved it, the movie review is following. When the movie was over I rushed to my car, drove with intention, got to the hotel, booked in, got settled and then my clients arrived. Great day! Felt wonderful!.
Saturday up, shake drink, down for 8.30 to the room, and the weekend began. All was well, had two clients that evening and then rested until Sunday, up for 8.30 and another day of learning and two clients. There is a lot to process in the classes, but the classmates were wonderful and had a great day. As I had lunch (a wonderful spinach salad with chicken) I had my shake and thought, I want to go see another movie. The front desk clerk helped by looking up the movies, and gave me a map and time of when the movie LETTER FROM JULIET was on.
I had a drive around as I had some time to spare, the sun was beginning to set when I finally pulled into the spot and headed to the movie. 11.00pm I come out of the movie, get into the car start it, and then when I went to put it into gear ---- the gear shift just came all the way back. No gears......no going anywhere. After panicking for a minute (well maybe two) I got out my BCAA card and phoned the 1 800 number and 1/2 hour later a wonderful angel in the shape of a young man driving a tow truck arrived. He tried for quite a while to see if he could get it working -- no go -- so ended up taking the car to a garage her recommended, driving me back to the hotel and even leaving me with his home number in case I needed a lift the following afternoon to pick up my car. How nice to know there are wonderful young men out there.
Next day, phoned the garage.....bad news.....my transmission is 'shot'. Need a new transmission, not cheap, but tell them to go ahead. After all I have to get back home, it has my tables, chairs and banners in it. Its not something I can just walk away from.
The mechanic says 'it will be about two days'. I ask "is this day one?". He says (hopefully correct) you will be on the road home Wednesday (hopefully again in the am). Oh my....now what to do. I'm staying at a fairly pricey hotel, I don't have a vehicle to get around and I know my friend Cecelia is out of town.
Ah!!! Deanne....I'll phone her. So at 10.45 (check out time is 11am) I phone her - not home, try her cell, she answers. She tells me later it was a miracle she answered, as she was square dancing and it was the break and she was sitting down with her cell in front of her. I tell her my predicament. She replies immediately (another angel on the planet) I'm busy here till noon then I'll come get you. So I go down, check out and wait in the lobby, watching 'The View" until 12.30 when she arrives and brings me to her place.
So here I am waiting for the phone call to say my car is ready so I can get back to my life. Yesterday I was able to do laundry, because my clothes were packed for the days I expected to be away, relax and go for a walk in the park close by and then Deanne drove me to the bank to ensure I have money to pay these guys (either this afternoon to tomorrow).
I was sitting this am thinking how lucky I was this went here in the City, where everything was easily obtained (tow tuck, garage to fix it and Deanne's to stay). This could have happened when I was in the middle of the Rockies where there is no cell reception. I had no warning of this, it just went. So how does that metaphysically relate. Transmission is going, you put the car into gear and it goes. Well I have been going flat stick (my last post was titled busy as a bee) but the transmission goes backwards as well as forwards). This car has had a light out, a new dent in the trunk and now the transmission. If the car is me, then I have to take a good look at the pace I'm keeping - at least that is what I'm thinking -- comments are welcome.
I think also it could be saying a new 'gear' is being made ready. I am studying the Yuen Method, it was made a huge difference to my work and my client base is getting busier.....I knew when the car light, another event, and then the dent in the trunk happened I needed to look inside, but thought I had - obviously not. So some inner contemplation will be in order over the next few days - tarot cards - will be out for sure. Personally, I needed to get another car....I was going to look at one when I got home, but now my deposit is going for the transmission, so another miracle will need to be created.
So here I am stuck in Calgary until my car is fixed (so its an enforced rest) and then home to get ready for the long weekend (Bridget is coming to visit - always busy then) when I'm having my first Saturday at the local market and then next Thursday I fly to Regina for another weekend course. I was looking forward to June when it will be more settled, home to work in the garden, get some painting done and finally get to the bookkeeping.
Hope your week was not as exciting as mine has turned out to be.
Love
Norma.

Trip home via Dinasoures

After the Edmonton Body Soul & Spirit Expo was over, I had another Psychic Party on the Monday night and then Tuesday I did a couple of readings for people and then I set out for Camrose to see my friend Diana. Her directions were very good and I drove right to her house. There I got introduced to her cat, Kat - a male cat who is a character and demands attention one way or another. Kat seemed to accept me which was good.
Diana and I had intended to go to Drumheller on Wednesday to see the Dinosaur Museum. Well, the next thing we know there is a severe weather warning for the area. In fact they had quite a snow and ice storm, so instead of going we spent the day looking around the town, having lunch and then returning back to her place to watch a movie I had bought, "African Queen". I use the movie in my Male/Female and relationship courses and although I had a video, I saw that there was a DVD, so bought it and we watched it, then we went out for Chinese food.
The next day 7.30am saw me on the road to Drumheller by myself, while Diana went off to work. Driving through the rolling brown hills, some with snow on them (left over from the storm the night before) others clear I found myself in Drumheller just before 10.00am, which is when everything comes alive there.
While waiting for the information centre to open I walked around "the largest dinosaur in the world" and then realized the store across the road was open, walked over and the kind lady there had a map and told me all the things to go see, including the best place for breakfast - it was good. Feeling I needed to purchase something, I discovered some fossil dinosaur poop....very pretty colors and bought it with a stand to show it nicely. (I even got a card explaining it all).
From there I went to the museum, which was great, the little church, which was not open (a tiny church enough for one person, which disappointed me - that it was locked up - because I love churches and would have loved to have sat in it. Then I went to the swinging bridge a short way out of the town. Now my unsettledness around certain heights came up, so took a moment and applied my new The Yuen Method techniques and cleared it and enjoyed walking over and back the bridge. Then off to see the Hoodoos, and I was done. There were a couple of things, ie a Fossil Place which I did not go to, and some mines, but felt I had seen what I wanted to, so drove over the brown hills to Calgary.
Arriving in Calgary, I was tired and when I arrived at Cecelia's (with whom I was staying for the weekend) she was doing a reading (being a working psychic) so I went to 'my' room and had a sleep for 1 1/2 hours. On the drive I had been informed I would be needed at the Big Four Building for a TV interview at 6.45am the next morning (Friday). Therefore, I had to get up at 5am, get showered, dressed accordingly and drive to the Calgary Stampede Grounds and set up my booth and be ready for the TV interview. This happened with a lovely Global interviewer named Jill, I drew her Soul Impression and we talked about that. Very soon the interview was over and I was free to return to Cecelia's and have some more sleep before it was time to get ready to go back to the expo. As my booth was ready we did not have to be there as early as we would usually have gone. A nice bonus.
Friday was busy, lots of people, I had one lecture on the Tarot which was well attended (which I always like). We are always glad when the day is over, get back home to Cecelia's place, eat food, watch some TV and sleep. Then we are up and at them again in the morning, back for 10.00am and Saturday which is our longest day was the slowest of all three days, but it helped that I had one lecture, and one two hour workshop. That took up some time. Both the lecture and workshop were on Past Life Regression, and we sold out of all the CD's I had. Another good day.
Sunday was super busy. I sat from 11.00am until 4.00pm doing readings and when I finally got up I could hardly move I was so stiff. Plus I did not have a voice left. I could not get any volume out of it. I was glad to have a break and a walk around and then get ready to break down the booth and go have dinner with other friends and sleep before leaving at 6.45am to drive back home.
Was I ever glad to get home around 3.45 pm. The tulips had all come out in the two weeks I was away and some more daffodils. The Cherry tree is in full bloom and the lilac bushes are coming alive. Home Sweet Home.
I still wish I sometimes were two people. I have had clients, and I'm needing to get ready for the Spring Festival of Awareness this coming weekend, where I will be facilitating two workshops. So taking one day at a time, as usual. Enjoying the process of getting my house back to normal - I'm still unpacking my car. I managed to buy a new umbrella for my sundeck - a green to match the back door I painted last year. Another month and I'll be back painting!!!! Summer is coming, the weather is beautifully warm - not used to it yet. Life is good.
Lots of love,
Norma.
